Last night, I attended my first ever Vestry meeting. Now before dipping my bread into the wine of the Anglican communion, I thought a vestry was a room for keeping vestments. For some reason, it made me think of Cluedo – you know, Ms Corbett, in the vestry with a candlestick. But, low and behold, a vestry is also group of church members who meet with the Vicar to manage the business side of the parish (think Parish Council). And I’m now on it!

In an alarming first meeting development, I found myself appointed secretary (shh, don’t tell them about my in-tray). But, hey, if you read the blog about managing my mother’s finances, you will know I am eminently capable (cough).

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you I survived the first meeting and, the morning after, I am happy to report it was not like this one:
